If you will be a Junior (11th) or Senior (12th) next year you may be interested in a Pathway or Career Program. Please click on the links below to access the applications for these programs.

PLEASE REMEMBER that each of these programs have prerequisites and some of the priority deadlines have already passed, but most programs are still taking applications or wait lists. (Programs have been advertised in the weekly Newsletters and in emails).

Application to these programs is not a guarantee of acceptance. You will be notified if you have been accepted into a program.

Please read the information carefully before applying to a program. You will still need to select 7.0 credits of GHS courses for your course requests. If you are accepted into a program your counselor will consult with you to adjust your schedule for next year.

Longview Early College Program Notification of Interest Form (click here)

Early College is taught through Longview Community College, and contains all required courses for the first two years of college, leading to up to 42 hours of college credit. Courses are taken in the afternoon during the week, 2-3 courses a semester for two years.

For entrance into the early college program, students should meet the following criteria:

Be a junior or senior in high school (entrance to the program for juniors only)
Have earned at least a 3.0 GPA in high school courses
Have a record of success in advanced or college preparatory classes
Have at least a 90% attendance rate
Good school citizenship
Have at least two teacher recommendations (to be instituted for entrants to the 2021-22 program)

Avila Pathways to Design Program Notification of Interest Form (click here)

Pathways to Design is a one year program designed to introduce students to Graphic Design as a career, and give them practical experience in it. It is taught by Avila professors, and leads to an industry recognized certificate.

Students Entering into the Graphic Design Program through GHS are recommended to have met the following criteria:

Must be entering 11th or 12th grade
Entered into the Business or Fine Arts/Communication Career Pathway
Completed Computer Applications or Advanced Computer Applications courses
Have taken at least an introductory Art course.
Have at least a 2.5 GPA
Completion of a Graphic Design course
Good school citizenship

Cerner Pathways to Technology Program Notification of Interest Form (click here)

Cerner hosts our software design program. It is taught by Jonathan Lane, a PrepKC designer who works through Cerner as a partner. Students take intro classes for a semester or year and can move into internships and even permanent jobs with Cerner after completion of the program.

For entrance into the early college program, students should meet the following criteria:

Be a junior or senior in high school (entrance to the program for juniors only)
